Ecorys supports DG INTPA in the operationalisation of Global Gateway

As the European Union faces new challenges in an increasingly unpredictable geopolitical context, the importance of coordinated development cooperation is vital. Global crises, shifting power dynamics, and changing development needs require innovative, responsive and collaborative international action. In this evolving landscape, Global Gateway reaffirms the EU’s centrality in addressing these global challenges with an ambitious new focus on investment and economic partnership.

Background

The “Support to European Development Policy, Team Europe and Global Gateway” facility is designed to deliver agile, high-impact support to the European Commission, EU Delegations, and Member States. Through the Team Europe approach, it drives transformative solutions in development cooperation and accelerates the implementation of Global Gateway initiatives aligned with the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Moving forward, the EU is aiming to mobilise Member States, banks and export credit agencies as part of the Global Gateway Strategy, drawing from the combined experience of Team Europe and adopting a new approach to development which can highlight the added value of EU cooperation and promote European interests through mutually beneficial partnerships.

Ecorys, together with Stantec, will work with the European Commission (DG INTPA) for the next three years (2025 – 2028). Our technical assistance, coordination support and capacity building services will support DG INTPA in its efforts to achieve the ambitious objectives of the Global Gateway initiative. Support is already being provided on a global scale across many Global Gateway flagship projects and Team Europe Initiatives, with a focus on mobilising private sustainable finance, fighting climate change and boosting economic growth and competitiveness.

Recent project updates

After a successful kick-off meeting of the project in Brussels in early 2025, the Ecorys consortium has been supporting DG INTPA with a variety of assignments in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and across the globe. We will continue to mobilise the extensive knowledge gained from the previous facility and look forward to providing our support to strengthen the European Union’s voice globally as a leading cooperation partner.

On this webpage, we will continue to provide updates on the project and its milestones.
