Study on oil in Niger
Study on oil in Niger
Within the framework of the SIEA framework contracts (Lot 5) our consortium has been awarded the project: ”Study on oil in Niger”.
Oil exploitation is a major development issue for Niger. However, Niger faces challenges in terms of effective resource management.
The overall objective of this study is to contribute to a better understanding of the oil economy in Niger and its effects on Niger’s macroeconomic fundamentals and socioeconomic development.
More specifically, it will:
- assess the impact of the increase in oil production, starting in 2021, on the financial operations of the State (on internal revenues, sectoral expenditures, and the public deficit);
- assess the impact of the increase in oil production, starting in 2021, on macroeconomic variables (GDP, Balance of Payments, inflation, etc.);
- to evaluate and analyze the impact of the increase in oil production, from 2021, on the various sectors of GDP and employment.
The project started in October 2021 and will last for 3 months.
