Support to the SET Plan Action #6: Energy Efficiency in Industry

The European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) aims to accelerate the transition to a climate-neutral energy system through the development of low-carbon technologies. Action 6 of the SET Plan focuses on increasing efforts to make the EU industry less energy, resource, and emissions intense, while enhancing competitiveness.

Ecorys, led the consortium that also included Ricardo and CEPS, to support the stakeholders, Member States, the Steering Group Committee and the European Commission by:

  • Enhanced Synergies: The consortium strengthened collaboration by strengthening connections between European and National R&I programs, creating new synergies, and through the design and delivery of working group, sub-group meetings and networking events.
  • Strategy Evolution: In supporting the Implementation Working Group 6, the consortium facilitated updating priorities and targets to align with the EU’s heightened climate ambitions and commitment to circularity, as outlined in the Green Deal and Industrial Strategy.
  • Knowledge Dissemination: Project results were disseminated through various channels, including meetings, assemblies, and networking events. Additionally, the SETIS website was regularly updated, and crucial information was conveyed to the SET Plan Steering Group Committee.
  • Funding Exploration: Identifying potential funding sources for R&I activities and projects remained a vital aspect of the consortium’s work, contributing to the enhancement of feasibility and the overall scope of these initiatives.
  • Cooperation Catalyst: The consortium took the lead in facilitating stakeholder engagement, identifying relevant country financing schemes, and actively fostering cross-border cooperation among stakeholders.
  • Strategic Coordination: The consortium took charge of managing and coordinating the Secretariat. Additionally, it conducted stakeholder mapping, established and maintained databases for projects at both national and European levels. The consortium served as a central body of reference to stakeholders.
