Ecorys India is providing technical assistance to prepare an integrated logistic plan and formulating the integrated logistic policy for the State based on the case studies, findings and various existing schemes and policies of centre and state in all sectors including agriculture, health, urban, industrial, etc. and in all modes including air, waterways (port and inland), road and rail transport supporting logistics under implementation in the State.
Logistics plays an important role in enhancing the competitiveness of the economy and is closely related with global trade and commerce. With the globalization of businesses, competition has become intense. This has forced Indian companies to work in an environment of shortened cycle times and reduced inventories where logistics has become a critical management area to attain a competitive edge. Gujarat has been ranked NO. 1 according to the January, 2018 study "Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS)" carried out by Ministry of Commerce and Industry to understand the perception of industry players and stakeholders across India, about international trade logistics. Still, there are some key challenges faced by the Logistics sector in Gujarat that need to be addressed through this assignment.
