Urban Agenda Partnership on Climate Adaptation

Ecorys supported the EU’s Urban Agenda Partnership on Climate Adaptation, addressing urban climate challenges through a dedicated Action Plan for resilience and sustainable growth.

In its role as the Secretariat, Ecorys supported the Urban Agenda Partnership in the EU (UAEU) , under which 14 partnerships got developed. One of these partnerships, the Urban Agenda Partnership on Climate Adaptation, was dedicated to proactively addressing the adverse effects of climate change on urban areas within the European Union.

The core focus revolved around conducting vulnerability assessments, enhancing climate resilience, and improving risk management, with a significant emphasis on addressing the social aspects of climate adaptation.

The Partnership on Climate Adaptation developed an Action Plan, comprising ten key actions geared towards enhancing legislation, funding mechanisms, and knowledge-sharing to align with the EU’s long-term objectives of sustainable growth and social, economic, and territorial cohesion. The plan is guided by several principles, including a focus on subsidiarity, integrated EU policies, building upon existing initiatives, promoting local governance involvement, and adhering to EU data protection laws.

Ecorys offered comprehensive support to the Partnership on Climate Adaptation, including public consultations and drafting the Action Plan, outreach and communication, management and administrative support, technical expertise, and budgetary management.
