EU Outermost regions climate change adaptation exchange programme
The programme supported the exchange of good practices and solutions on climate change adaptation between the EU outermost regions and with their neighbouring countries
Ecorys provided evidence-based analysis of existing climate adaptation initiatives and organized a series of impactful workshops, totalling nine virtual sessions, along with a concluding in-person event. These workshops served as the foundation for compiling a comprehensive compendium of climate change adaptation practices and solutions.
The geographical focus of the project centred on the nine EU outermost regions (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, Reunion Island, Saint-Martin (France), the Azores, Madeira (Portugal), and the Canary Islands (Spain)) which are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts. The thematic areas addressed by Ecorys encompassed critical topics such as water management, biodiversity, agriculture, tourism, coastal risk management, and responses to extreme weather events.
Ecorys’ contributions fostered knowledge exchange and drove actionable strategies for climate adaptation in these regions, ultimately enhancing their resilience to the challenges posed by climate change.
