New ICAI review: Assessing DFID's results in nutrition

ICAI’s latest review assessing DFID’s results in nutrition was led by chief commissioner Tamsyn Barton. Consultancy firms Agulhas and Ecorys provide research services to ICAI.

The review finds that the government’s claims of reaching 50m+ people with nutrition services are valid and its approach is rooted strongly in evidence of “what works”. DFID has been considered a strong global leader in nutrition and has had an important role in increasing the international focus on undernutrition. There is evidence that its technical assistance and advocacy work has contributed to the longer-term integration of nutrition within some government services and programmes. However, the UK government needs to do more to reach the most vulnerable and accelerate its approach to strengthening food systems.
