Ecorys contributes to the transformation of the Port of Baku into an international logistics and trade centre
In cooperation with Royal HaskoningDHV, Ecorys is assigned by the European Commission to support the process of transforming the Port of Baku (PoB) into an international logistics and trade centre. The consultancy team will focus on two steps: assisting the PoB to enhance its operational functions, and strengthening Free Trade Zone related functions of the PoB to facilitate and promote cross-border and international trade.
The technical assistance project will deliver the following results:
- Port related Operational and Management activities strengthened;
- Free Trade Zone related functions of the PoB strengthened and the commercial aspects related to international cross-border trade facilitated relative to new logistic opportunities such as the rail network;
- National legislative and regulative framework applicable to Port and Free Trade Zone revised and recommendations submitted according to the best international practices;
- Port and Free Trade Zone related ICT systems upgraded and relevant statistics developed;
- Human Resources Management (HRM) system improved and public awareness initiatives implemented.
Ecorys and Royal HaskoningDHV can build on their broad experience in the Caucasus, including Azerbaijan, to support the PoB. The project will start on January 16, 2018, and has a duration of two years.
