Ecorys provides support to ‘one stop shop’ trade solution for Trinidad and Tobago

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GORTT) in 2009 launched the Single Electronic Window (SEW) for Trade and Business Facilitation programme to improve the country’s ease of doing business, enhance its national competitiveness, and instil a culture of excellence in the GORTT’s service delivery.

The new SEW, TTBizLink, is an IT-based trade facilitation solution that is the first of its kind in the Caribbean. The SEW represents a secure business portal providing 24/7 access to trade and business related government services by allowing parties involved in trade and transport to lodge standardised information and documents at a single entry point, in order to fulfil import, export and transit-related regulatory requirements. This ‘one-stop-shop’ transactional portal (accessible here) significantly improves the efficiency with which private stakeholders and approving government agencies are able to collaborate to process necessary permits and approvals.

Ecorys is currently implementing two of the five main consultancies commissioned by the GORTT to facilitate the wide-spanning change due to TTBizLink: Change Management and Business Process Reengineering (BPR).

The Change Management Consultancy oversees the significant change brought about by the other four other main consultancies under the Strengthening of the SEW for Trade and Business Facilitation programme (BPR; Legislative and Regulatory Framework Review; Institutional Structure and Governance Framework Design; Automation of Construction Permits; and Risk Management) to create an enabling environment. This seeks to assist and encourage government officers, and other relevant stakeholders, to adopt and support the new processes under the enhanced operating environment.

Leveraging our significant experience in Business Process Reengineering (BPR) in similar contexts internationally, Ecorys is also implementing the BPR Consultancy, which seeks to simplify, modernise and harmonise the major regulatory processes for import, export, transit and business facilitation services in Trinidad & Tobago.
