Ports against corruption and organised crime: Law Enforcement workshop in Rotterdam

In June 2025, law enforcement officers and port security specialists from across Europe gathered in Rotterdam for a high-level workshop tackling one of the most pressing challenges facing European logistics: the growing threat of organised crime and corruption in seaports.

The workshop, hosted by Ecorys and Fondazione SAFE, was part of Operational Action 7.1 (OA7.1) under the EMPACT Priority “High Risk Criminal Networks” and is supported by Europol. It was organised within the framework of the EU-funded POSEIDON project, which aims to strengthen the integrity of the EU port supply chain and foster cross-border cooperation.

Participants engaged in a series of discussions discussing questions such as: Which threats posed by organised crime and corruption are European ports facing? How are these threats evolving? How can we best tackle them? Outcomes of the discussions serve as a basis for determining the direction of future work under the Operational Action.

Stay tuned for more updates from our work in the fight against organised crime, corruption, and for stronger port security across Europe.
