Spatial strategy for circular workplaces
The transition to a circular economy requires space. Space needed on the one hand for making existing business processes circular and on the other hand for (new) circular business activities.
Currently, this space requirement in the Netherlands competes with other space functions such as housing, industry, energy transition, recreation and nature.
Insufficient space for circular business activity hampers the national and provincial ambition to have a fully circular economy by 2050. More and more areas in the Netherlands are therefore focusing on a regional strategy and regional policy.
In the (Duch) article below, we share insights from our studies on the spatial impact of circular economy for (among others) Programmabureau Noordzeekanaalgebied | NZKG, Province of South Holland, and the Green Metropolitan Region Arnhem-Nijmegen (GMR) – Arnhem Nijmegen region.
