Thematic S3 Platform for Industrial Modernisation (S3P-Industry) Technical Assistance Facility (TAF)

The 2nd regional workshop of the Thematic S3 Platform for Industrial Modernisation (S3P-Industry) Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) took place in Brussels on Friday 4th October 2019. The TAF team moderated a ‘hands-on’ format workshop to ensure that participants gained maximum value from the experience. Particular emphasis was put on strengthening the viability of investment projects emerging from S3P-Industry and their underlying business plans. At the same time, the workshop helped project managers to attain a clear understanding of the key elements of the business plan and maximising the success when applying for TAF support. The workshop included participative exercises; one based on assessing a fictional business idea, and the other focused on the preparation of successful TAF applications. A total of 34 participants took part. 

Some of the key takeaways highlighted by participants included the difference between (regional) partnership level activities in contrast to project-level activities, and the importance of demonstrating ownership of and commitment to the project through a signed agreement. As result of the fruitful sessions, participants are now better prepared to submit a successful TAF application. They also actively contributed to developing the first version of TAF FAQ that will soon be available on the TAF website.
