Summer Schools Evaluation
Client: Department of Education | Sectors: Social Policy£50m was made available for the Summer Schools programme, to help disadvantaged pupils make a successful transition from primary to secondary school though transitional support, catch-up classes, and enrichment.
The Department for Education commissioned NFER and Ecorys to undertake a national evaluation of the programme, with a focus on effectiveness and early outcomes for pupils and schools.
The methodology included a nationally representative school survey and two waves of qualitative case study visits to schools.
The evaluation reports provide essential reading for schools considering how to design, run and evaluate a Summer School in the future.
