Research into Rural Youth Entrepreneurship

Client: Youth Business International | Sectors: Social Policy, Regions and Cities

Ecorys UK was commissioned to conduct research for Youth Business International (YBI) and BG-Group to help them better understand the challenges faced by un/underemployed youth in rural and remote contexts in setting up successful businesses, and how young people are supported to overcome these challenges.

The methodology involves a Rapid Evidence Assessment of relevant literature, interviews with YBI network partners, an online survey with youth entrepreneurs, and focus groups in four countries with projects supported by YBI and BG-Group. The research will enable YBI and its network members and partners to identify where they are best placed to provide support for youth and contribute to success on the ground. The findings are being shared across the YBI network of over 40 countries and via youth conferences.

An accessible summary report was completed in July 2016, which can be found here
