Technical Assistance to support the strengthening of the capacities for the implementation of the Public Financial Management Strategy in Albania

This project is providing support to strengthening the capacities of the Ministry of Finance of Albania to run an effective mechanism for the management of the reform process and to support the implementation of the PFM strategy. 

The assistance will also strengthen the capacities of other PFM stakeholders such as relevant governmental counterparts, state audit office, parliament as well as consultation with development partners, think tanks and civil society organizations to contribute to overseeing the reform implementation.

The project which will run from September 2017 until May 2020 is expected to promote sound financial management through target training and capacity building in annual and medium term budget planning, strengthening mechanisms for budget transparency and comprehensiveness of public information as well as support the implementation of the Public Internal Financial Control (PIFC) framework in Albania. 

The project is expected to lead to improved public finance management outcomes in Albania though improving PFM officials capacities to coordinate reforms, develop budgets, communicate information and effectively monitor and control public financial flows.
