British Council with Ecorys wins UK contract for managing EU education programme Erasmus+

14 Nov. 2013 - The British Council, in partnership with Ecorys, has won an important contract for managing the European Erasmus+  programme for education, training, youth and sport in the United Kingdom. Erasmus+ starts 1 January 2014 and replaces current EC funding programmes run by the European Commission in the area of education, training, youth and sport. The contract win reinforces Ecorys’ strong position as a leading partner for the European Commission for managing EU education programmes.

From 2007 until 2013 Ecorys has been responsible for running the UK National Agency for the Leonardo, Grundtvig and Transversal Programmes for the UK Government and the European Commission. As the follow up programme Erasmus+ will run from 2014- 2020 and is aimed at funding and supporting activities in education, training, youth and sport in all sectors of lifelong learning including higher education, further education, adult education, schools, and youth activities.

The British Council with Ecorys will be responsible for the overall management of the Erasmus+ programme in the UK, ranging from promoting the calls to tender through the assessment and contracting stages and subsequent monitoring of the projects throughout their lifespan. The partnership will provide continuous support to the UK Government in the day-to-day management, administration and monitoring of the programme. This appointment is subject to final contractual agreements and approval by the European Commission.
