Workshop on ‘Digitalisation and Big Data: implications for the health sector’ for the European Parliament

The potential of Big Data in improving healthcare is enormous. Digital technologies can empower patients, support public health policies, provide more integrated healthcare and reduce healthcare costs.

Ecorys will organise a workshop together with Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore on ‘Digitalisation and Big Data: implications for the health sector’ for the European Parliament. The workshop is aimed to analyse the implications of digitalisation and of Big Data for the health sectors. The workshop will consist of different presentations by experts in the field and an exchange of views with EP Members and established external experts in the area, on six topics;

  1. Digitalisation in healthcare and the sources of Big Data 
  2. European healthcare systems and the potential for Big Data 
  3. Clinical and cultural challenges ahead for efficient use of Big Data in healthcare
  4. Technical challenges related to the management of electronic health records
  5. Legal and regulatory aspects, including privacy protection and data sharing policies
  6. Training and education
