Ecorys officially launches port technical assistance project in Azerbaijan

On Friday 16 March 2018, the Launching Event of the project ‘’EU Support to the Enhancement of the Operational Capabilities of the New Port of Baku & Free Trade Zone at Alyat” was held at the Four Seasons hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. The project will support the Government of Azerbaijan to transform the Port of Baku into an international logistics and trade centre through a viable Free Trade Zone. Furthermore, the project will focus on development of the Green Port concept.  

Edwin Lock (team leader) presented on behalf of the Ecorys-Royal HaskoningDHV consortium the EU-funded technical assistance project to all Azeri stakeholders.

The meeting was chaired by Mr Zhihadov, the General Director of the Port of Baku. An introduction to the project was provided by Mr Jankauskus, the Ambassador of the EU in Azerbaijan. Participants included representatives of several embassies, ministries, donor organisations, the local private sector and the Delegation of the European Union in Azerbaijan.

The project was launched on 16 January 2018 and will last for 2 years.
