04 December 2007 - ECORYS sponsored a very important event in the field of transport: The Third Annual Meeting of Ministers 2007 on development of the South East Europe Core regional Transport Network (SEETO). The event took place on 3-4 December 2007 in Tirana, Albania.
At the third SEETO annual meeting the five-year Multi Annual Plan (MAP) 2008-2012 has been presented. With a circulation of over 1200 the MAP will remain a key reference point throughout the coming years in developing South East Europe’s transport infrastructure. Adnan Rahman, Managing Partner, ECORYS Transport, addressed the participants during a lunch on 4 December: "... The increasing investment in the region is a sign of its growing importance in Europe. We at ECORYS are looking forward to strengthening our presence and ties in the region and contributing to the future growth and development of the necessary infrastructure”. ECORYS International and ECORYS Nederland have a particular interest in the economic development of South East Europe. This interest rests on a strong basis of experience ECORYS has gained in the last 15 years working with national and regional authorities in the region. In order to achieve a better understanding of the local challenges and to offer optimal solutions, ECORYS has established its South East Europe office in Sofia with a number of liaison offices in the region. One of the strongest fields of research and consultancy of ECORYS is transport policy and infrastructure; a field that has increasingly attracted the attention of the European Commission in view of Europe-wide issue of connectivity. ECORYS Transport division covers all modes and means of transport. The in-house expertise focuses on transport policy and strategy formulation, infrastructure development and economic evaluation, financing of transport projects and private public partnership. ECORYS believes that the success of countries and regions depends on them being economically competitive, financially sustainable, well governed and managed, and conscious of social and environmental aspects. Therefore we apply a multidisciplinary approach in our work that covers a broad spectrum of social and economic expertise. This enables us to place transport in a wider economic, financial and social context. ECORYS Transport works worldwide - in Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Its client portfolio consists of national, regional and local governments, multilateral and bilateral organisations active in development co-operation. Such are: the European Commission, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Development Bank.
