ECORYS participates in high-level meeting on crisis in shipbuilding sector PDF Print E-mail

Image LeaderSHIP 201514 September 2009 - ECORYS has participated in a high-level meeting addressing the crisis in the shipbuilding sector, which took place on September 11 in Bremerhaven, Germany.  The meeting was organised to discuss the current situation in the shipbuilding sector and to evaluate and accentuate the European policy regarding LeaderSHIP 2015.

Eurocommissioner Günter Verheugen chaired the meeting that was attended by EU officials, ministers and key officials from various Member States, and captains of industry from the shipbuilding sector. ECORYS had been asked to participate in the discussions and was represented by Roelof Jan Molemaker, who explained the findings and conclusions from ECORYS' recent study on the competitive position of the European shipbuilding, in which we investigated the competitiveness of the European Shipbuilding Industry.

The study consisted of an analysis of the current 'state of the art' of the shipbuilding industry, comprising of both shipyards and marine equipment manufacturers. On the basis of data analysis, questionnaires and interviews with industry leaders, conclusions were drawn to support the LeaderSHIP2015 strategy aiming at strengthening Europe's position in the global shipbuilding arena. The study is part of an overall framework contract with DG Enterprise on Sector Competititveness Studies.
