ECORYS was founded after the merger of the Dutch companies NEI (Nederlands Economisch Instituut) and Kolpron Consultants (both based in Rotterdam) and the British company ECOTEC Research and Consulting. Waste to energy in Rotterdam

The City of Rotterdam has initiated the establishment of a District Heating Company, which will tap residual heat from waste incineration plants and use this heat to produce substantial extra capacity to the city’s heating network. The company is envisaged to be a joint venture between the city and an international energy company.
